Perez Hilton is continuing his recovery in a residential treatment facility more than a month after he was hospitalized following an apparent self-harm incident during a TikTok livestream in Miami-Dade County, his family said in a new update posted to his website.

In the statement, the family said it has been “more than a month since the events of August 4” and thanked people who have sent messages and well wishes. They confirmed that, after spending weeks in the hospital for treatment of physical injuries, the celebrity blogger has now transitioned into a residential program designed to let him focus fully on his mental health.

The family emphasized that the process will take time and that there is no firm timeline for his return to regular life. “This was an important next step, but there’s still a long road ahead,” the statement said, adding that he is expected to remain in residential treatment for “several more weeks,” and possibly longer depending on guidance from his treatment team.

As part of that program, the family said Hilton does not have access to his phone or laptop and is maintaining only limited contact with loved ones so he can concentrate on treatment. They also pushed back against what they described as inaccurate claims circulating online about his condition.

The family’s message addressed the online reaction to the August incident, saying some people had mocked or celebrated the crisis. “Whatever anyone may think of ‘Perez Hilton,’ his past, or things he has said over the years, there’s a real human being behind the name,” they wrote. Referring to him as “Mario,” the family said he is “a father of three, a son, a brother, and a friend” who reached a point of severe struggle. They added that while people are not required to accept his past actions or apologies, “celebrating someone’s suicide attempt crosses a line.”

They also said Hilton’s three children are safe and stable and are being cared for full-time by their grandmother while he remains in treatment.

Hilton, 48, was hospitalized on Aug. 4 after Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an apparent self-harm incident. In the immediate aftermath, his talent management team, Golden Artists Entertainment, said it had not been able to reach him directly but that its priority was his health and privacy.
