New York's "Met Gala" on the red carpet how to disappear crores of diamonds? Two pairs of diamond pendants worth Tk 1 crore 35 lakhs were stolen. Star makeup artist Savleen Singh, a member of famous fashion stylist Rhea Kapoor's company, has already lodged a written FIR in this regard with the Sahar police station in Mumbai.

Rhea Kapoor and her team flew to New York at the end of April to attend the Met Gala, the biggest stage of the international fashion world. Two pairs of exclusive diamond pendants were borrowed from two renowned jewelery manufacturers in Mumbai for the royal occasion. The rule was that the jewelery would be returned intact after returning from a foreign trip.

But in irony of fate it was not possible anymore. Complainant Savleen Singh told the police that she carefully packed the jewelery in two separate boxes in her handbag for use at the Met Gala. On April 27 at 10:25 PM, the entire Riya team departed from Mumbai on an Emirates flight.

They arrived at New York airport around 5:30 pm on April 28 after transiting Dubai. But in the midst of this, there is a problem. What exactly was stolen?

According to the calculations given to the police, the total market value of the missing jewelery is around Rs 1 crore 35 lakh. A pair of pendants made of 18 carat gold, emeralds and diamonds, estimated to be worth Rs 66 lakh. Another pair of pendants with gold and diamond borders inlaid with royal Zambian emeralds, priced at around Tk 69 lakh.

Savleen immediately approached the police as soon as he set foot in Mumbai. Based on his complaint, Sahar Police registered a case of theft under Section 303(2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) against an unidentified person. However, the investigators feel stuck in one place - when and where exactly did the theft happen?

Mumbai airport, aircraft interior, transit lounge in Dubai or after landing in New York - it is still unclear where the jewelery worth crores was stolen. The police are currently examining the CCTV footage and the list of the aircraft's staff to identify the culprit.
