New Delhi: After WhatsApp, the central government has sent a notice to Telegram and Signal. Recently, the central government has taken strict action regarding the username feature of WhatsApp. Within a day, the center asked two other messaging platforms for their response on the username feature.

It is learned that the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has asked the two organizations to know what kind of security measures they have taken to prevent fraud or fraud in the username feature. Sources claim that the Center has also asked Telegram to explain why it needs to enable the username feature on its platform. The government has raised questions about how secure customer information is in such features.
Signal and Telegram did not comment on the matter until the report was published. The central government had issued a notice to WhatsApp on Wednesday regarding the central username that had previously warned WhatsApp. According to the Center, the introduction of the username feature could significantly increase the risk of online fraud, phishing, digital arrest, and identity fraud.
It was further directed that the new feature cannot be introduced until the discussion with the government on the matter is satisfactory. What did WhatsApp say? The messaging platform claims that the username feature has multiple security measures in place to reduce the risk of fraud, impersonation and unwanted communications.
The company later released a detailed FAQ on social media, explaining how the feature works and security measures. Strict surveillance on Telegram In the last few months, the government's surveillance around Telegram has increased. Earlier, Telegram and its associated web services were temporarily banned in India for a week for allegedly leaking NET exam question papers, circulating fake question papers and spreading misleading information.
Services resumed after that ban expired on June 22.
