In a heartfelt revelation, Andrea Hewitt, wife of former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, has opened up about the challenges of supporting her husband through his long-standing battle with alcohol addiction. Speaking in a podcast interview with Suryanshi Pandey, Andrea shared the emotional toll Kambli’s struggles have taken on their family and her decision to stand by him despite the hardships.
Andrea disclosed that Kambli has undergone rehabilitation 14 times in an attempt to overcome his addiction. At one point, the situation became so dire that she filed for divorce. However, after witnessing her husband’s deteriorating health, she decided to withdraw the petition, choosing instead to support him in his journey to recovery.
Vinod Kambli and Andrea Hewitt tied the knot in 2006, following the cricketer’s divorce from his first wife, Noella Lewis. The couple has two children, Jesus Christiano and Johanna. Andrea shared that their son played a pivotal role in providing her with emotional strength during Kambli’s most challenging moments.
The family faced public scrutiny in February 2023 when Andrea filed a police complaint against Kambli, citing domestic abuse. Despite the turbulent times, she remains committed to helping him overcome his struggles and rebuild their life together.
Earlier this month, Andrea was seen assisting Kambli at the 50th-anniversary celebration of Wankhede Stadium. She was by his side as he walked to receive an award from cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, further highlighting her unwavering support for her husband despite the difficulties they have faced.
Andrea’s decision to stand by Kambli during his darkest times showcases resilience, love, and commitment, proving that even in the face of adversity, family remains the strongest pillar of support.
