Walton Plaza, the country’s largest sales and distribution network for electronics, electrical, and ICT products, has once again set a new example of social responsibility. The company has extended financial support of more than Tk 2 crores to 800 families who lost either a hire-purchase customer or a member of their family.
But that’s not all. Walton Plaza also waived the remaining installments owed by those families, which alone exceeded Tk 2 crores. This massive initiative comes under the company’s unique “Hire Purchase and Family Protection Policy.”
The policy ensures that every customer purchasing products in installments from any Walton Plaza across Bangladesh receives a protection card. If a buyer passes away during the installment period, their nominee is entitled to financial assistance ranging from Tk 50,000 to Tk 300,000 depending on the product’s price.
Even in the unfortunate event of a buyer’s family member dying, the nominee receives Tk 25,000 to Tk 150,000. In these cases, any unpaid installments are adjusted from the assistance amount, and the remaining balance is handed over to the family.
Speaking about the initiative, Walton Plaza’s Managing Director, Mohammad Rayhan, said: “Our main aim is to deliver quality products and services at affordable prices. That’s why we launched the ‘Hire Purchase and Family Protection Policy.’ Walton Plaza is the only company in the world to introduce such a policy for installment buyers, and it has already made a huge difference for ordinary customers.”
He added that cardholders under this protection scheme also enjoy extra perks, including discounts at leading hospitals, diagnostic centers, insurance companies, and restaurants nationwide. On top of that, Walton is even offering employment opportunities to eligible members of affected families.
This initiative is earning Walton widespread praise and, more importantly, providing real relief to hundreds of families when they need it most.
