After that, Indian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi said in a press conference that the visa service will be launched from Sunday, June 28. Bangladeshi citizens can apply for tourist visa to come to India. He said that this initiative is to normalize the relations between the two neighboring countries.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, 2024, India stopped issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi citizens due to the strained and heated situation in India-Bangladesh relations. Only medical visas and business visas were being issued. After two years, tourist visas are being given again.

Now Bangladeshi citizens can come to India on tourist visa as well. Where to get visa? Dinesh Trivedi said that tourist visas will be issued from visa centers in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong and Khulna.

He said that when he was going to Bangladesh through the Benapole border, the issue of this visa came up. Then this decision. Incidentally, Dinesh Trivedi was appointed as India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh last April.

He is the first politician to be appointed as the ambassador of Bangladesh. Earlier, diplomat Prannoy Verma held this post.
